Motorcycle racing sponsorship

So, you want to be a sponsored racer?
Here’s a resource to help.

Among the friends we made out in the MotoAmerica paddock this season (thanks to a warm introduction by friends of the team, the Schmalls!) are the Lackey family and the crew at Bison. When Tosha asked if we’d prep a blog post for them about the realities of sport sponsorship, we jumped at the chance.

Jump over to the Bison blog for the original post.

And, writing that post lead to a slightly longer version with a few other inside-baseball tips available as a PDF download here about How to Be Your Sponsors’ Favorite Racer.

We had fun preparing this, but we’ve been really surprised by the response we’ve received on it from other teams (including in the Premiere paddock!) and from brands in motorsports and beyond. There are sponsor dollars available for motorcycle racing sponsorships, but brand expectations are higher than they used to be. This resource will help you get inside the mind of a sports marketing professional to understand what they’re looking for when evaluating motorsports sponsorship candidates.

If you’re a racer or athlete, it’ll help you better understand the business side of how you wind up on your grid (and how you can help the brands you work with).

If you’re a team or brand and you — like others we’ve heard from — want to share this resource with your athletes, just point them to:
